American Psychological Association = (APA) the largest organization of psychologists in the U.S. with over 122k members.
Behaviorism = describes behavior as something that comes form an external sources (the environment) and not necessarily from an internal one (the mind).
Biopsychology = incorporates knowledge of biology in the study of psychologyBiopsychological model = states that health is determined by a combination of psychological, biological, and social-environmental factors.
Clinical psychology = deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders and problematic behaviors.
Cognitive psychology = is the study of mental processes eg. memory, reasoning, problem solving.
Counseling psychology = focuses on helping people with emotional, physical, and mental health issues and help them cope during crises.
Developmental psychology = the field that analyzes how a person's mind changes as they get older.
Dissertation = a long research paper written by people who are studying to get a doctorate.
Empirical Method = measurable data based on observation and experimentation, not on logical reasoning or based on previous authorities.Forensic psychology = applies science and psychological methods into the justice system.
Functionalism = focuses on the function of behavior in the world and how mental activities help an organism to fit into their environment.
Humanism = a field of psychology with the core belief that there's innate goodness in all humans.
Introspection = when someone examines their own conscious experience as objectively as possible to make the human mind observable.

Personality psychology = study of patterns of thoughts and behaviors that make each individual unique
Personality trait = patterns in thought and behavior
PhD = doctor of philosophy
Postdoctoral training program = allows programs and broaden their research skills under the supervision of other professionals in the field
Psychoanalytic theory = focus on the role of the unconscious in affecting conscious behavior
Psychology = scientific study of the mind
PsyD = doctor of psychology
Sports and exercise psychology = area of psychology that focuses on the interactions between mental and emotional factors and physical performance in sports.
Structuralism = focuses on understanding the individual parts of the brain and their relation to the conscious experience.
